Printed carpet

I passed by the local furniture store today, and they had a stack of carpet samples outside for $1 each. So, I went through the pile to find the one with a color closest to white, and brought it back to the shop. I’d been told you can print on carpet with our new flatbed printer, and I wanted to give it a try.

I gave the carpet to Alex, who runs our UV curable flatbed machine. Fifteen minutes later, he dropped the piece you see in the photo on my desk.  Not bad!  We’ll put it inside the front door and see how it wears.

As long as the carpet is a tight weave, I think we can print on it. The closer to white the better. This is not something for shag carpets, I think.
