PVC Free Wallpaper in our Offices

We’ve recently done some qualification tests on HP’s new PVC free wallpaper. We printed our tests on our new latex printer, and the results are excellent.

Not only does it look good, but it gives you wallpaper that has excellent environmental credentials. No PVC, no solvents coming off of the inks.

If you are looking to do a LEED certified building, this is the product for you.

Backlit Displays

Display at O’Hare

I was interested to see these backlit displays at O’Hare Airport the other day. At first glance, they looked like video screens, but they were so large I took a closer look.

What they turned out to be were very thin backlit displays, run by an LED array that allows the box to be very thin. I’m used to seeing backlit displays that are about 6″ deep, which you need when you have fluorescent lights behind. These are maybe 1-1/2″ thick, which means there much less space taken in the aisle. Less chance of people banging into it too.

Backlit displays are a staple of airport advertising, these take them up a notch. Being LED powered, they use less electricity too!

Fabric Banners for Trade Shows

fabric banners for trade show displays

Fabric Banners

We do a lot of fabric banners for research posters, but this order came in for a company whose salesman wanted something he could fold up for traveling, and then hang up for display.

We chose to print on our tri-poplin fabric with our new Latex printer, which does a fabulous job on fabric. We hemmed the edges with heat applied tape, and put grommets around for hanging.

Maybe this is the next big thing for local trade shows! Fabric banners look great, and they can make a show easy to do! We really like the way fabric looks compared to vinyl- it hangs straight and doesn’t show crease marks where it was folded.

The Wrong Way to Do a Trade Show

Trade Show Booth

Opening the Show

We did a trade show over the last weekend, and the people across the way from us really made us laugh.

At the 1:00 show opening, this is how their booth looked. They showed up around 1:30 and had the booth put together by about 2:30, missing an hour and a half of potential customers. But that wasn’t the worst of it.

They had a show banner at the back of the booth that was made on translucent material, very sketchy and hard to read. Then they put an air conditioning unit up on a stand in front of the banner so you couldn’t read half of it. The whole booth was crowded and disorganized. Too much stuff. If you looked at the booth, you had no idea what they sold.

Our Booth

Contrast that to our booth! No question about what we were selling. People didn’t have to ask us what we do, they came into our booth because they were interested in making custom wallpaper.

There’s more to doing a trade show than just showing up. If you give some real thought to what your booth is and does, you’ll have a lot better results. For a primer on doing a trade show effectively, check out our TradeShow 101 article.

Cutouts of cartoon characters

cutouts of cartoon characters

small cutouts

We’re not really sure what these cutouts of cartoon characters are all about, but the job itself is pretty interesting.

We printed the cartoon character cutouts for FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency. They help people recover from natural disasters.

In this case, they provided us with artwork of the characters, we generated a cutting path for our CNC router, and the rest is history. We printed on sintra and the computer cut them out. Bing badda bing!

Whether you have cutouts to do of people, things, or cartoon characters, our system does them quickly and affordably. We do plenty of people cutouts, but we’ve also done things like cutouts of cars, logos, and cartoon characters. Give us a call when you need cutouts!

Wallpaper at the NH Home Show

custom wallpaper trade show booth

Our Wallpaper Booth

We’re going to the NH Home Show over the weekend to show our custom printed wallpaper. Our booth is pretty cool, and worth a mention in this space.

What we did was print the graphics on the wallpaper itself, and then apply them to the 22 mil PVC we usually use for trade show booth graphic panels. We used a cold applied adhesive to do that. The wallpaper material itself is not rigid enough to hang in a trade show booth.

This gives us a trade show booth that shows the customer exactly what our custom wallpaper looks like, and the kind of quality we get from a 10 megapixel photo (this one taken by our own Bob Misuraca).

We’re excited about showing our custom wallpaper capabilities to the homeowners and architects that attend the show. Stop by and see us at the Radisson in Manchester!

Cutout Signs Impress!

Logo Cutout

Here’s a really nice piece of work from our new CNC router. It’s a customer logo printed on 1/4″ sintra and computer cut. What a great presentation it makes, and so much snazzier than a rectangular piece.

We are keeping our new CNC router pretty busy with work like this, and our customers are loving it!

Best wishes from all of us at MegaPrint Inc. for a healthy, happy, and prosperous New Year!

Jazzing Up a Film Room

Sticky back fabric for displays

Film Viewing Room

Man, we’ve come a long way from the chattering projector and folding metal chairs of film rooms of my youth! Here’s a photo of the University of Missouri film viewing room, where the basketball team views films of their past games and upcoming opponents. We recently printed a photo of the basketball team for the room on our repositionable fabric, and it really gives a great presentation.

What’s also cool is that it’s easy for them to reprint the photo each year, and replace the old one. Who wants to gather the team in a room and see a photo of guys who aren’t there any more?

Stanchion Signs that Knock You Out!

stanchion sign cutout

Stanchion Sign with a top

Here’s a creative way to make a more noticeable stanchion sign! Our customer designed a “Top Hat” that would extend beyond the top of a standard stanchion sign holder, and it’s striking!

Another customer of ours tested signs that were plain old rectangular signs against a set that were cut out to a special shape, and found that people noticed the shaped signs four times as often. So, doing the unusual brings results!

We commissioned our new CNC router a few weeks ago, and we are already keeping it pretty busy doing special cutouts of logos, signs, and counter top displays. Our customers have quickly discovered that non-rectangular stanchion signs sell more product!

Wallpaper Mural in Texas

wallpaper mural

Texas history at a glance!

This is one of the most spectacular wallpaper murals we have done! It was 18 feet high and 67 feet long, and the artwork was stunning! We did it for Joeris General Contractors in San Antonio Texas for a school they were building.

The artwork is wonderful, a photo collage in sepia tone of the history of Texas. It has cowboys, wagon trains, agriculture, oil exploration, and more. As we laid out the strips of wallpaper in our shop, we were all standing around admiring it.

It is always fun to see a picture of a wallpaper mural once it’s been installed. In this case, doubly so!
