I must confess that I always get lost on the cross country ski trails at Waterville Valley Nordic Center. I bring a trail map, but I never know which intersection I’m at.  So, I was very pleased last fall when they ordered a set of signs from us that they put at every intersection with a “you are here” designation. They are a big help!

This weekend I went out on the trails and the ski signs were a huge help. You could tell from all the ski tracks in front of the sign that a lot of people were using them too.
We printed these files onto 1/8″ Sintra. They were created from the trail map artwork, with a designation of the particular intersection laid over the top and a very helpful arrow going to each one.  The UV curable printing on Sintra will last for many years, and the digital printing process made it very easy to print 40 different signs efficiently.
Oh, and there’s 3 feet of wonderful new snow, and the skiing was fantastic!

Having a Meeting? We can help.

Here’s the sort of thing that got Large Format Printing off the ground- signs for a company meeting. You see them all over the place at every conference, and we do a ton of them. They direct people to the right place, announce what is happening in the room, get groups of people together.

Typically these are made of paper mounted to foam core board, and are stood on an easel outside of meeting rooms. In this picture, they are in a 22×28 signs holder, and we usually use 50 point board for that, since the slot on the top of these sign holders is a little too small for foam core board.

We also do a lot of vinyl banners for events and meetings, so you can come to one place and get all your meeting signage done.

Color Job Plans

When you have a pile of color job plans to print, give us a call! Many people can’t tie up their plotter for a week or two doing the final sets of prints for a big job, but we have the capacity to do it, and do it fast.

We have also found that our ability to laminate prints can make them much more durable, and that helps municipalities when they are making tax maps that the public handles.
Typically we print pdf files generated by drawing programs, and output to our standard 36 lb matte finish paper. We can laminate with either gloss or matte plastic for added durability.

People looking for a complete trade show booth have a great solution with our pop-up booth.  The whole thing fits into a tough plastic cannister a little bigger than a suitcase, and can be sent by UPS very easily.

For this booth, we took the customer’s photos and logo and used his idea for the words. Our graphics department put it all together, and we output four panels that fit together to comprise the booth. The entire process took about a week.

Frame? Who needs a frame?

It turns out that the frame for a poster size print can cost you more than the print itself. People often ask us what they can do instead of framing the picture we enlarge for them.

The picture at the right is a large format print that has been mounted to 1/2″ thick black gatorboard and matte laminated. It’s a great way to put something striking on the wall at a reasonable cost.
We can also put what’s called a foamcore clip on the back, which jabs into the back of the gatorboard and gives you a ring to hang on a nail. You can also put two of them on the back with picture frame wire in between.
Oh, and if you are not terribly fussy, the big box stores often have inexpensive frames up to 16×20 inch size, and they are pretty affordable.

Wallpaper for a Yogurt Shop

They’re not selling a lot of ice cream in New Hampshire this time of year, but they are rockin’ and rollin’ in Miami!  This frozen yogurt store wanted something dramatic and durable to create a mood around their yogurt machines, and our wallpaper fit the bill.

The art was designed in Adobe Illustrator and output on our UV flatbed machine.
Here you see the store still under construction, with the wallpaper recently installed. They expect to open in the next few days.

Big Checks for the Giving Season

It’s the time of year that many of us count our blessings, and decide to share some of our prosperity with others. Of course, if your business is doing the giving, it’s never a bad idea to get a picture in the paper for a little publicity! A photo of you giving a large size check to your favorite charity is one way to do that.

Here’s a research poster we printed for a scientist in Australia. He was coming to a conference in the U.S. and didn’t want the hassle of traveling with his poster.

He found us online, and we exchanged a few emails about when we needed files, etc. and he entered his order online. We shipped it to his hotel in Texas.
This happens regularly here, and the internet makes it easy!

Welcome Center Banner Stands

We’ve just produced a dozen banner stands for the new welcome center at Plymouth State University.  This is where families come when they are first taking their youngster to see the University.  They wanted to have a display of the local attractions, as well as publicity for Plymouth State programs.

What’s great about the banner stands is that they are easy to re-arrange in different configurations and the banners themselves are easy to change if need be.  And, as you can see, the colors are vibrant and the graphics exciting.
They demand attention! Whenever you go to the Welcome Center, you’ll see people walking around reading the banners.  That’s just what everyone hoped would happen!

Trail Markers

OK, so we had a little snow over the weekend and people are starting to think about the upcoming ski season!  Especially if the rain forecast for tomorrow gives us some snow in the mountains, we’ll be skiing this weekend!

One job we’ve done over the last few weeks is the production of ski trail maps for the Waterville Valley Nordic center.  Having skiied these trails many times, I was forever trying to figure out where I was when I arrived at a fork in the trail.  After all, there are over 40 miles of trails!  The new maps show the trails in full color, and most importantly, show you where you are on the trail. As you can see from the picture, every map has a “You Are Here”  indication.
   These maps are printed on 1/4″ sintra, and they are made to last! We made them on our flatbed printer with UV curable inks.
