Banner Stands for Versatility

Here’s a great idea- use banner stands for seasonal promotions, and then change out the graphic for the new season! balsams4

The picture is of a series of banner stands we made for The Balsams, a grand resort here in New Hampshire. They wanted to put banner stands at several auto dealers, and then change the graphics and put them at golf equipment stores in the spring.

Our premium banner stand fits the bill perfectly. The graphics are easy to change out, and the stands are very durable. The other great reason to use a banner stand is they can be set up anywhere, and in a minute.

They also used a couple of our economy stands where they didn’t expect to change the graphics.

Banner Stands

I went to Scotland this summer, and was amazed at how many banner stands I saw. They were in the train station, the airport (of course), a restaurant, several stores, the tourist information area, and even the hiking hotel we stayed at.wide banner 008

For good reason! They are easy to move around, require no fixturing, and are an effective way of communicating and selling. We sell an economy banner stand that works great, and a premium product that is exceptionally durable and easy to change out the graphics on.

We use a mylar film on our banner stands that will not stretch and “canoe” over time. We’ve had a banner stand in our office for over two years now, and it’s as flat and beautiful as the day we printed it.

All our banner stands are printed with UV inks so they don’t fade over time. We stock the hardware and the film, and can turn them around in a day or two.

Matte or Gloss Vinyl Banners

We give you a choice of matte or gloss vinyl when we print your banner. matteorgloss 001

Gloss is less expensive, and the colors tend to be more brilliant due to the brightness of the material. We recommend it for almost any outdoor application.

Matte vinyl is better for indoor, since it wont’ give you trouble with glare or reflections. Especially for trade show applications, matte vinyl is a better choice.

The photo shows samples of vinyl banner material, with the gloss on the left.

Matte vinyl can be printed up to 6 ft width and just about unlimited length. We can get wider gloss material, and can do 8 ft width on gloss vinyl. One other benefit of matte vinyl is that the material can be printed on both sides, and it has a light blocking layer in the middle to prevent ghosting of the image on the back to the front.

Across the Street Vinyl Banners

Across the street vinyl banners

Vinyl banners that will go across the street are a different breed of cat.

First of all they are usually big, often 3 or 4 feet tall by 20 or 30 feet long. That means they will catch a lot of wind in a storm, and really strong material is needed. Wind cuts are in order to release some of the force of wind.

Regular vinyl banner material gets brittle at about five below zero farenheit. Being in the north country of New Hampshire, we’ve seen banners get this cold, and the vinyl falls off the nylon scrim (the re-inforcing weave). For across the street banners, we use a material that has a cold crack temperature of -20. It also is a tougher vinyl, with a heavier scrim. We also put an extra layer of material in the corners to add strength.

It’s also important to install an across-the-street banner properly. Typically, they are installed on a steel cable going across the street with D rings through the top grommets.  A rope though the bottom grommets holds it down, and we suggest using bungee cords in the rope so that the banner will be straight in no wind conditions, but be able to shed the wind in a storm.  It is also useful to note that almost nothing can hold a banner in a big storm, and it’s best to take them down if one is coming.

Vinyl Banners as Temporary Signs

squam banners 008There are times when you don’t want to go to the expense of making sign when it will only be up for a few months. A vinyl banner is a great solution! They are inexpensive, easily installed, and will last for several years.

Here’s an example of a vinyl banner used as a temporary sign on a construction trailer. It announces to people that this is the place to go if you want to inquire.  Once the sales office is built, they can have a permanent sign made, but the banner serves quite nicely in the meantime.

It’s also easy to move them around as construction progresses. Banners are also less likely to be damaged as equipment moves around the job site, and are quickly replaced if they are damaged.

We’ve also seen our banners used to designate temporary parking areas, walkways, and entrances on construction sites.  Any place you need a sign that doesn’t need to last more than a few years, think about using a vinyl banner.

Vinyl Banners for Events

Whenever you’re putting on an event, you’ll want to be sure to tell people what’s going on. What better way to do that than with a vinyl banner? It will announce to everyone that an event is coming, and let people know that they are in the right place.

Vinyl Banner for events

These days, it’s pretty easy to do the design yourself. We support all of the common design software. We also have a big room full of graphic designers who are happy to set something up for you, too. Either way, you can have your banner back in a few days.

They are rugged and attractive, and can be printed in full color. This banner is one we did for a local event for free diabetes screening.

Vinyl Banners for Construction Signs

Vinyl Banner Construction Sign

Vinyl Construction Banner

Here’s an easy way to do a construction sign announcing a new building. Wrap a sheet of plywood with a vinyl banner, and voila, instant sign! What’s also really cool is that you can put a picture of the building on the digitally printed banner.

We’ve done a lot of these over the years, and customers tell us that they really help generate business. People are always curious about what is being built, and knowing that a new restaurant or store will be opening will encourage them to come through the door once it opens.

In this case our friend Alan who runs the Mandarin Taste in Plymouth is building a new restaurant on Tenney Mountain Highway.  25,000 cars a day are driving by his sign, and it sure ought to bring him some customers when he opens this spring.  We wish him well, and encourage everybody to try his Crab Rangoon!

Announce your Product with a Poster

Product Announcement Poster
Product Announcement Poster

We do a lot of poster printing for retail stores. Here’s an example of a poster we printed recently to announce a new product line for a wireless services company.

One thing that we often do is print posters like this on very fast turnaround times. In this case, we had files in the morning, and had 32 posters printed and out for shipment by the end of the day.

If you have ever done a new product roll out, you know that there’s always a crunch at the last minute to get everything done. Since there are no plates to make and no huge press to set up, large format printing can often be done very quickly.

Posters as Calendars

Poster printed calandarEvery year we print a calendar for our customers, and enclose it with orders that ship in the month of December. It’s a nice way to say “Thanks for your business” as well as giving them something handy for the new year.  Of course, it keeps our name on their wall, which is a good thing too!

This year we used a background image of a sunset taken from our parking lot by Bob Misuraca, one of our graphic designers who is also an accomplished photographer.

The calendar is a poster printed on 36 lb matte paper on one of our 18 wide format printers. As part of our commitment to going green, we used up the tail ends of a lot of paper that were really too small to be used in our normal poster printing.

Poster Printing of Important Messages

Poster for a SchoolHere’s a job we did for the New Hampton School this fall. They wanted everyone to appreciate their philosophy of education, the way they would learn, and the way they would treat each other. They put it all together in a poster that they hang in every classroom.

We actually did this job for them last year too, and they learned some things that they decided needed to be updated.  As often happens, something was learned, and they adapted. They believe that by having a poster printed of their educational philosophy, they advance it to everyone.  And, with the posters on the wall of every classroom, it’s front and center all the time instead of being in some binder on a bookshelf

At MegaPrint, we call this communication poster printing, because it is a great way of communicating with others.
